SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFARI



On 4 December 2002, clients will enjoy a bush breakfast in the Kruger Park whilst witnessing a total solar eclipse in the northern section of the Kruger Park.



ITINERARY


MONDAY 2 December 2002

Leave Gauteng and travel via Dullstroom, Lydenburg and historic Pilgrim’s Rest. Enjoy the highlights of the Panorama Route including God’s Window, Three Rondawels and the picturesque Blyde River Canyon. Enter the Limpopo Lowveld via the Abel Erasmus Pass and on to Marc’s Treehouse Camp.After a refreshing swim, relax at the bar. Enjoy dinner around a crackling fire before boarding our open Landrover for an exciting spotlit nightdrive.

TUESDAY 3 December 2002

Enter the Kruger Park at Orpen Gate and enjoy a full day of game-viewing and bird-watching in the company of our expert guide. Visit Satara and Nwanedzi, hoping to photograph the numerous animals in the Central Section. Dinner and early overnight.

WEDNESDAY 4 December 2002

The day of the eclipse has arrived ! After coffee and rusks, we enter the northern gate of Kruger and drive to a remote picnic spot where your guide will prepare a champagne breakfast. At around 08h00 you will witness the spectacular eclipse played over a vast expanse of African bush. Listen as the bushveld calls recede and then resound as the animals and birds are first hushed and then rejoice as the sun reappears. This natural phenomenon experienced in the pristine surroundings of the African bush will remain with you forever. Visit Letaba and Olifants returning to camp in the late afternoon.


THURSDAY 5 December 2002

Enjoy a bush walk accompanied by an armed ranger who will point out many secrets of nature. After breakfast, we drive via the picturesque Tzaneen and Magoebaskloof . Drive via Polokwane and Pretoria to arrive in Johannesburg in the late afternoon.
